PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday vowed that the
perpetrators of the recent bomb blast which killed at least 75 persons and
wounded many more, will not go unpunished for their dastardly act.
Speaking during the fourth presidential national prayer breakfast which
took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he urged
Nigerians to pray and keep faith in the ability of God to deliver the nation
from the hands of the enemies.
Jonathan, again, commiserated with the families and loved ones of the
victims of the attack whose responsibility has already been claimed by the
insurgent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, promising that his administration will
continue to offer necessary assistance to the families, even as security
agencies were working hard to bring the insurgency under control.
He was confident that no enemy could stop the progress of the country.
“And of course, no matter what the government does, we cannot recover the dead
but one thing we promise is that all those who took part in that act will
surely pay for it,” he added.
He added: “I urge you not to relent in your prayers and dedication
because overcoming the present challenges we face may look impossible with men,
but with God, all things are possible.
Also speaking at the event, the President of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi,
implored God to forgive those who abducted schoolgirls in a secondary school in
Chibok, Borno State, saying they were unaware of the implication of their actions.
“This is clearly seen in the scriptures and this is my article of
faith. And of course, this is one of the things that make me smile whenever you
see me.”
