PRESIDENT
Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday revealed plans by Pope Francis to visit Nigeria
as he assured the pontiff of his administration’s commitment to enhancing
inter-faith dialogue and alleviating poverty in the country.
The
President gave this indication while speaking with reporters after a meeting
with the head of the world’s Catholics at the Vatican, Rome, noting that Pope
Francis had always taken a keen interest in Nigeria and had promised to visit
the country.
Jonathan
conferred with Pope Francis on the promotion of inter-faith dialogue in Nigeria
and other parts of the world to foster greater global peace and security.
The
President noted that the promotion of inter-faith dialogue was a cause to which
the Pontiff was very committed.
