continuation of the preparations for the 2015 general elections, the
Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, has again sent
another batch of 16,691 Police Officers on promotion course. The officers while
on the course are expected to undergo intensive training on election protection
duties. This training is part of proactive and comprehensive measures by the
Force to ensure an orderly, crisis-free and violent-free election ahead of
2015.
The course
which is concurrently taking place at various Police training institutions
nationwide is specially designed to equip the men with new skills in standard
operational policing practices, human rights protections, principles of
democratic policing as well as rules of engagement in election security.
The IGP
expects the promotion to boost the morale of the men as this will aid their
optimal performance in field operations. He further congratulates the officers
while charging them to imbibe the character of discipline and professional
ethics in line with the code of conduct of the Force.
The IGP
further assures Nigerians that the Nigeria Police will continue to
strategically adopt the best approaches in ensuring the security of lives and
property as well as protecting the integrity of all elections in the land.
