For
the family of Chief Nicholas Chibuife Anamene in Umuohi Okija, Ihiala Local
Government Area, Anambra State, things have fallen apart and the center can no
longer hold.
The trouble in
Anamene’s household, Sunday Sun gathered, started after Chief Nicholas had
married four wives in quick succession. According to sources, Anamene’s
four wives later left him one after the other. It was gathered that the women
abandoned him when they began to entertain suspicion about their husband’s
source of income although he claimed to be a chief priest of the notorious
Okija Shrine.
Having been
deserted by his four wives, Chief Anamene, it was gathered, married another
lady, simply identified as Ngozi. Both of them had hardly settled to
enjoy the union, when Chief Anamene brought in yet another woman.
Sources
revealed that the children left behind by the first four wives were left in the
care of Chief Anamene’s fifth wife.
Chief Anamene
would further expand his harem with yet another woman, a move that never went
down well with the last wife. Hence, her decision to follow in the footsteps of
the first four wives.
Ngozi, who already had seven children for her husband, however, decided to stay put with him. Yet, Chief Anamene would not stop having more wives majority of whom, according to sources, refused to live with him.
Ngozi, who already had seven children for her husband, however, decided to stay put with him. Yet, Chief Anamene would not stop having more wives majority of whom, according to sources, refused to live with him.
But for Ngozi,
her husband’s source of wealth remained a major source of concern. And
like the proverbial cat, her curiosity to know her husband’s source of income
would later land into trouble with the chief priest.
Having failed
to persuade her husband against his fraudulent source of income, Ngozi,
Sunday Sun learnt, reported her husband to her brother-in-law, a move that
yielded no result. But Ngozi would not relent and in order to compel her
husband to abandon his fraudulent way of earning a living, she began sabotage
her husband. Her husband who was not unaware of this, descended on her by
trying to force her to vacate his house.
Anamene, it was
learnt, accused his estranged wife of labeling him an impotent and not being
the biological father of all his children. “Having noticed that we are not
ready to leave the house, my husband started threatening fire and
brimstone. He even planned to take me to court for divorce a day before
he shot my son whom he said he mistook to be me,” Ngozi said.
Narrating how
her son, Ugochukwu was allegedly shot by his own father, Ngozi, amidst tears
said, “her son was coming in at about 8.30pm on that fateful day, and on
sighting him, his half brother and the other wife whispered to Chief Anamene
that I was coming upstairs. On hearing this, the man picked
his Pump Action gun and shot the 23-year-old boy dead on the staircase.”
Upon his
discovery that he had committed a heinous crime, Sunday Sun learnt that Chief
Anyamene attempted to flee from the scene but he was overpowered by the
villagers who responded to the alarm raised by Ngozi that her husband had shot
and killed their son.
Chief Anyamene,
it was gathered, was forced to stay with the dead son in the pool of his blood
while the villagers, who took his pictures with his dead son, ordered him to
take the corpse to the morgue, before handing him over to the police.
As at the time
of filing this report, Chief Anyamene has been remanded in prison custody
pending advice by the Director of Public Prosecution in Anambra State.
This is the sign of the end time. RIP.
