A former Military Administrator of Niger and Ebonyi States, Senator
Simeon Olasunkanmi Oduoye, is dead.
According to a family source, Oduoye aged 69, died at his GRA residence
in Osogbo, Osun State on Friday evening.
Oduoye, who represented Osun Central senatorial district on the platform
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2003 to 2007, ventured into politics
after retiring in 1999 as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
The late senator was born in Ikirun, the headquarters ofthe Ifelodun
Local Government Area of Osun State.
He contested the governorship primary election of the PDP in the state
in 2003 but lost to Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who ruled the state from 2003 to
November 2010.
Confirming his father’s death, the eldest son, Mr. Kayode Oduoye, said
his late father had been suffering from illness for some time.
He further disclosed that the deceased, who was planning his 69th
birthday celebration, died inside the bedroom at his Osogbo residence.
He said the family would soon meet to take a decision on the burial.
