Report reaching CKN Nigeria has is that telecom operator Etisalat is broke and in order to keep its head above waters ,has decided to sack over 2,000 of its staff across Nigeria. According to some of those that were sacked, they were given their pay off cheque yesterday Friday and asked to go home. In its stead, the operator is now planning to hire casual or adhoc staff to handle most of its jobs. Most of those sacked have expressed surprise and disappointment over the development which has thrown them into the already saturated unemployment market. Attempt by CKN Nigeria to speak to the management of Etisalat to confirm or deny the allegations has been unsuccessful so far.
My savour, said "come unto me, all ye who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest
ReplyDeleteRubbish story. This is patently not true!

ReplyDeleteThis story is so wrong. Very false story. Only 100 were sacked and that was because they performed below expectation during their yearly appraisal for 2 consecutive years. Pls get your facts right.
ReplyDeleteWas it as a result of their individual performance or a forced rating by the HR. Irrespective of your final performance score. ...It was demanded that line Managers provides a list of staff to be on 'Needs improvement' and all these they sacked.

ReplyDeleteIt was uncalled for. Those that were sacked were staffs that have spent 4 to 6 years. They represent etisalat's pillars and the fastest growing telecoms may soon be on the verge of a crash
