The National Conference kick started this morning at
the main hall of the National Judicial Institute Abuja on a controversial note
when a member of the Conference and former Vice Presidential candidate of the
CPC Pastor Tunde Bakare asked the Chairman of the Conference Justice Kutigi to
restrain himself from always chanting Islamic prayers before making his opening
remarks..Pastor Bakare raised the objection when the Chairman repeatedly used
the terms "bissimalahi rahum rahim" while addressing them.In his objection
,Tunde Bakare said this may open up a religious floodgate which may lead other
religious men like him to start chanting "Praise the Lord, somebody"
thereby turning the whole conference into a religious conference. Afterward it was resolved that the second stanza of the National Anthem will be used as prayers at the National Conference in place of Christian or Islamic prayers
This is gonna be interesting
ReplyDeleteNice observation. This is not religion gathering.
ReplyDeleteThe takeoff is a reminder of the end result. Both Kutigi & Bakari are small minds, because God is not glorified nor helped by mere chanting. If Bakari feels chanting praise the Lord sombody will make him feel distiguished, he should jolly well do so without seeking undue attention, for Chrrist does not seek for attention, nor request anyone to defend him.
ReplyDeleteMr or Mrs big mind... Smh
DeletePls u ppl hv to knw one thing,d aim must be achieved.
ReplyDeleteKudos to bakare,u ar a gud representative, dis ar 1 of d mistakes dose leader make by intoducin religion were we av many religion ppl gaderin,#Gbayi pastor bakare# 4 dat gud correction
ReplyDeleteSince Bakare was given ram gift, he has become thrifty with fact about corruption in Jonathan's administration. I no longer trust him . I will not be surprise if he comes tomorrow and start campaigning for Jonathan's reelection. This confab is a jamboree that will end nowhere and waste our resources. #12m per month for each delegate. Where have you heard it?
ReplyDeleteVictoria, you're not in tune with current affairs jare! Tunde Bakare enjoying the "jamboree"? Where did you get that from? Where have you been since Sunday? Mars I guess.
DeleteI don't see anything wrong in dat pastor he needs to ask for God grace first u can also do dat
ReplyDeleteI luv dat pas.Bakare,,,the film gonna be very interesting,,,,ACT 1,,SCENE.....let go there
ReplyDeleteA good observation by Pstr Bakare. People will steal, deprive others of their lives and livelihood chanting "Praise the Lord - Hallelujah" or "Bisimilahi a Ramoni Raheem".
ReplyDeleteLet's acknowledge God without allusion to any particular creed. The 2nd stanza of the National anthem suffices.
God bless me, God bless my family, God bless Fashola, God bless Jonathan and God bless you, my compatriots!
We will get there. One step at a time.
Pastor Bakare is right. Religion is not compatible with Politics
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for Islam the second stanza of the national anthem is a Christian prayer
ReplyDeletePastor Bakari should know that the differnce between christianity & religion is that christianity is a spiritual household. While a muslim might kill anyone who burnt a Kuran, a. Christian will not challenge anyone who burns the holy Bible, so long he bought it with his money. Christians are not canal & must not be dragged into petty & shambolic political chicanery. Brother Bakeri must not go to the conference with a closed mind that it is a battle field.
ReplyDeleteThat observation was good, being a gathering of people of diferent religious backgrounds; secondly being a national assignment with the State denominated as secular.
ReplyDeletePastior bakare may have gotten the attention of members of the conference, but he must not devioursly emback on cheap puplist stunt. Though his observation has been noted, I sincerely believe that only the likes of Bakare will be perturbed by that. If he did not mention that I don't see how it would have affected the outcome of the conference.
