Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), yesterday, decried the
current epileptic power supply being experienced in many parts of Abuja.
Many residents, who spoke with City News in Bwari, Life Camp, Kubwa,
Dutse, Gwagwalada and many parts of the City Centre, described the situation as
worrisome.
At Bwari, a resident of SCC Road, Wale James, said the situation became worsened few weeks ago.
Another resident in the area, Sesan Okunuga, also known as Chelsea, wondered why the authorities of the power company have continued to send monthly bills to the consumers without rendering effective services.
He appealed to the power authorities in Bwari Distribution Unit to find a lasting solution to the problems facing residents of SCC Road in the interest of peace.
A resident of Efab Estate in Life Camp, Barrister Abdullahi Usman, told our reporter that they have no power supply for the past one week, stating that the situation became worse as a result of adverse weather condition.
“Presently, there is fuel scarcity in Abuja and many of us can no longer power our generating sets, I don’t know how we are going to survive this situation,” he cried.
A housewife, who lives in Kubwa, Mrs. ChiomaAni, said all the food she stored in her refrigerator spoilt because of power failure for the past one week.
She claimed that her son has fallen sick as a result of excessive heat, aggravated by lack of power supply.
A stylist, who resides in Karu, stated that for the past one week, there has been no electricity, adding that she could no longer maintain her business.
A journalist, residing at Gwagwalada, told City News that most parts of the town have been experiencing epileptic power supply in recent times
Reports from Abaji and Kwali indicate unstable power supply as residents of the area complained that the situation has grounded economic activities in various communities of the two area councils.
