Governor Rotimi
Amaechi of Rivers State has described the Minister of State for Education,
Nyesom Wike, as unworthy of his position.
He also said he
would ensure that the minister would not succeed in becoming the next governor
of the state.
However, the
minister described the governor as an ignoramus who cannot withstand his
intellectual capacity
He also told
Amaechi to face the governing issues in the state and allow him, as the
Supervising Minister of Education, to concentrate on the efforts to revamp the
nation’s education sector.
Amaechi, who spoke
at a thanksgiving service of Senator Magnus Abe, at Bera, in Gokhana Local
Government Area, on Saturday, disclosed that he nominated Wike for a
ministerial appointment, adding that there were many better qualified
people from the state, but because he wanted an Ikwerre man, his kindred,
to be made a minister.
He described Wike
as not well-grounded intellectually enough to be the minister of education.
“Wike is not fit
to be the minister of education. How do you make a man who cannot speak English
the minister of education? How can Wike convince professors in the university
on any issue when he can’t speak proper English?
“My Commissioner
for Information, (Mrs Ibim Semenitari), speaks better English than Wike. And I
am sure most of you know that she speaks English better than Wike,” he said.
He said Wike
betrayed the trust he reposed in him when he joined forces to antagonise him,
leading to his eventual defection to the All Progressives Party (APC).
He maintained that
Wike’s political history cannot be written without mentioning the role he
played in Wike’s upward political mobility.
However Wije, in a
statement by his aide, Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, said the intellectual capacity of
Governor Amaechi was doubtful.

ReplyDeleteThis talking governor, you contradict your self some times. You said you made wike by nominating him. Does it mean you were not aware of his inability to speak English. You just talk talk without thinking. I used to love you but you talk too much. Learn to bridle your tongue.
ReplyDeleteHear him say there were many better qualified people from the state, but because he wanted an Ikwerre man, his kindred, to be made a minister. Ethnocentric and shallow-minded... The man needs to bridle his tongue before he causes friction in the polity
