Shot Newswatch Deputy Editor Dies

One of the top flight members of the Editorial teal of Newswatch newspapers, Toyin Obadina, is dead.
Obadina died in the early hours of Sunday.
He died as a result of injuries sustained when armed robbers shot him in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to information made available by one of his colleagues in Newswatch newspaper, Lekan Osiade, the efforts of doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State to save him were fruitless as Obadina “gave up the ghost in the early hours of today”.
Obadina is survived by a wife and children.
Obadina, the assistant editor of the Saturday Newswatch, was attacked along the Itoikin-Old Ijebu-Ode Road at about 1am while driving to his residence in Parafa area of Ikorodu, Lagos State on Saturday.
It was gathered that Obadina was waylaid by the men of the underworld, who double-crossed him with two Sport Utility Vehicles while driving in his Toyota Yaris car.
It was gathered that the victim cooperated with the thieves by submitting all he had on him, as requested by them, but the marauders still shot him.
According to his wife, Abiola Obadina, the thieves had collected all he had on him before shooting him twice in the stomach.
He was operated on by the doctors at LASUTH in the bid to save him.

  2. Too many man-inspired killings in Nigeria. The deathcard of the last 14 years show there have been more assassinations during democratic rule than there was during militaryand I want to ask, Is democracy a curse in Nigeria?
