Sanusi's Appointment As CBN Governor Was A Big Mistake..Pat Utomi

As controversy rages over the suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido, a renowned economist, Professor Pat Utomi has berated the tenure of Lamido as a Central Bank governor, describing his original appointment as “a huge mistake”
Reacting to the suspension of the controversial apex bank chief in a chat in Abuja, the Director of Lagos Business School, said Sanusi should never have been appointed as a Central Bank governor in the first place, declaring “it should not have happened”
Utomi joined two Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana and Chief Mike Ozhekome who had issued legal positions on the suspension of the apex bank chief. While Falana blamed Sanusi for not resigning when so directed by President Goodluck Jonathan, Ozhekome cited alleged infringements of extant rules to justify Sanusi’s suspension.
Utomi, however, faulted the nomination and appointment of Sanusi five years ago on the ground that the suspended bank chief lacked certain qualities of a Central Bank Governor
Utomi said: “It should not have happened. Sanusi’s appointments was wrong in the first place. He was not suitable for the job. CBN governors all over the World are men of great discretion in actions, pronouncements and deeds.”

  4. It is only God that will save u nigerians,am surprised that u people can still critise Sanusi for all he has done for u and I. Keeping our hard earn money save, not allowing us to have 100 banks that is not up to one in uk. All u can say is to critise him and follow what prof.Utomi is saying. All I can say is people like Utomi does not have the intrest of the masses at heart. For Sanusi has done good for this nation and God will judge between him and those after him.

    1. You see, this is the most outrageous, unintelligent and unpatriotic comment I have ever heard from this so called Prof. I now know that being a Prof does not mean one is smart in thinking. Let me ask Utomi whether in those countries where CBN governors are men of great discretions bla bla bla .. they will complain to their leaders that some earned monies by the state are not paid into the state's account and their leaders will keep quiet and take no action. Pls stop comparing us with these Utopian countries. Things simply, dont work here and it is stupid to keep citing examples of where things work. Desperate situation calls for desperate measures. Utomi by this utterance has shown that he is just another example of a Prof who is brought up within the box, sees everything within the box and thinks within the box. If these are the people Nigeria have as opinion leaders, then May God save us.

  5. Anos 10.02. Shut up. Was it Sanusi that came up with the policy. Don't sentiments in your judgements. In as much as he as did a good job in his own policies he does not have the qualities of a CBN gov. Pat is right. In life wisdom is the principal thing. He was talking and behaving more like a political lawyer than an economist. Serves him right. You can prove your points in different ways without being judgement. Imagine kettle calling pot black. I am not supporting gej to steal our money. There are other ways Sanusi would have managed that if not that he was been partisan to please his so called friends. rest my case

  6. Anonymous 2.18pm,can u pls tell me whose policy is it then, becos u claim to know better. Let me mention few for u,Sanusi came to power and restore the integrity of our bank, the cashless policy was is idea,we all know what we the poor massess went through looking for their bank ATM to use all in the name of saving #100 deduction, so if u don't know all this ask one people around u about their feeling during #100 ATM deduction. So Sanusi deserve respect becos his impact is felt among the massess than our so called president. If u not pls kindly tell me what d president has done to the massess and they are intrested in is to help the rich get richer and poor to get poorer. I am not surprised at prof.Utomi becos his bank was badly affected during sanusi regim. I will not be surprised if ibru and Akingbola goes to church for thansgiving becos their plan has been executed by their candidate but all I know God is there for the massess.
