The
Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Prof Bem
Angwe had raised the alarm over the rise in the cases of rape especially the
defilement of minors across the nation and called on the police to be more
vigilant in their investigation to bring culprits to book.
Speaking
in Abuja Friday when he received the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian
Christian Pilgrims Commission, John Kennedy Opara who paid him a courtesy visit
in his office, Angwe said that there was the need for religious organizations
and the Christian Pilgrims Commission to cooperate with the NHRC in its quest
to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
