Media aide to
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Mr. David Iyofor, has dismissed as
untrue, claim by the Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike,
on a television programme, that the monorail project of the
state government had been abandoned.
Iyofor said the
project was still going on and nearing about 85 percent completion. He
challenged Wike to visit the project site on Azikiwe Road to see things for
himself.
He said: “Work
is ongoing at the monorail project. So it is funny when we hear Wike say that
work is not going on. He was asked pointedly about the project and he said,
‘nothing is happening on the monorail project,’ but I’m glad you can see
that work is going on in the monorail and they even work day and night, so that
they could meet the target for completion and the monorail is already 85 per
cent completed.”
