Kano Emirate
Council has condemned the suspension of Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the
position of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor.
The Emirate
council in a statement Friday signed by Walin Kano, Alhaji Mahe Bashir
said “We viewed Mr. President action as a deliberate witch-hunt of the governor
for doing his job by letting Nigerians to know the alleged fraud going at the
petroleum industry and to divert people attention from this monumental fraud”.
The statement
noted that ” As the President suspended the governor without a recall to the
rule of law, We believed it was deliberate attempt to witch-hunt him,
desperation and impunity at highest order by the Federal Government”.
The Emirate
further called on the Federal Government to review the suspension of the CBN
Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in the interest of equity, justice and fairness.
The statement
noted ” despite all the awards and commendation received by the Governor
nationally and internationally which Nigerians and even the President is
Proud”.
“It is our view
that the Federal Government should as a matter of urgency review this issue by
following the laid down procedure in the suspension of public officer, for
equity, justice and fairness”.
“As a law
abiding organisation, we believe that adherence to the rule of law is paramount
and important to any government more importantly a democratically elected
government which preaches and ensures adherence to the rule of law”.
He said, ”
democracy will never mature if we stay with proclivity to personalise
governance. We need to build an institution, we need to build our democracy and
commitment to public accountability is part of building institution”.
The Emirate
council member also thanked members of the National Assembly and general public
for not supporting the action.
“At this point
we will like to thank members of the National Assembly and the general public
for condemning and objecting to the suspension”.

The Kano Emirate Council should first go and review Sanusi grandfather Emir Muhammad Sanusi the first emir of Kano that was dethroned all for similar offences of profligacy, embezzlement, garrulity, promiscuity, disloyalty and inordinate ambition that's grandson (Lamido Sanusi) has committed to the throne before the Emirate further call on the federal Government 2 review the suspension of the CBN governor. Delete@ solomon While the grand father was busy doing all you outlined the grandson who lives in this life time is doing the opposite by exposing theft, in my opinion that is setting the record straight and a good development for the times we live in, for those who want to review what our fathers did, check your own backyard and embrace the truth that we seek in this time and age cos that truth shall set us all free
