The Chairman
of DAAR Communications Plc., Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Wednesday took on Ijaw
leader, Chief Edwin Clark, over his warning to President Goodluck Jonathan not
to consider him as a candidate to fill the position of chief of staff.
Clark, at a
news conference in his Kiagbodo, Delta State country home on Tuesday, had
described Dokpesi as unfit for the office because he could not be trusted with
the position as he had worked against the president’s interest in the past.
He spoke
against the backdrop of media reports that Dokpesi was one of the candidates
being considered to replace Chief Mike Ogiadomhe, who resigned from the
position on Monday.
But Dokpesi, in a statement by his Executive Assistant, Mrs. Okiemute Olori, said Clark should be ignored as he was an “irritating interloper,” who had done more harm than good to the Jonathan administration.
“This is not
the first time Clark will be engaging in this kind of unbridled and unwarranted
attacks on the person and character of Dokpesi.
“Nigerians,
who are very familiar with the comic ranting of Clark against Dokpesi and other
prominent Nigerians will agree that responding to him amounts to dignifying an
irritating interloper.
“We would
like to alert Nigerians to the fact that Clark has a deep seated hatred for
Dokpesi and has never hidden that fact and as such we see Clark’s attacks on
Dokpesi as premeditated and pre-emptive.
“Whatever
modest contribution Dokpesi has made to the growth and development of Nigeria
has been by the special grace of God and he would not be distracted by the
likes of Clark who has apologised to all Nigerians for his untoward remarks in
the past that negated his selfish claim to elder statesmanship.
“Time will
soon tell whether Clark has served the interest of Nigeria in the past few
years since President Jonathan assumed office or whether he has been merely an
agent of provocation, irritation and disunity.
“Clark
belongs to the old generation that does not believe in the unity of Nigeria and
has done more harm than good to the present administration in pursuit of his
parochial interests,” the statement read in part.

ReplyDeleteIt was God that enthron President Jonathan and not Obasonjo or IBB.
Delete@ anonymous 7:47 pm, u re not only a big fool, but also a coward and a donkey 4 hiding ur name or identity. If u think that OBJ and IBB re ur God that's fine, but they re not my God. They re just an opportunist just like Jonathan. They re all imperfect human that makes mistake's too. If OBJ and IBB were the champions of yesterday that doesn't mean that they re still the champions till date because they can't be political champions forever. Things must change and change has come.
