Atiku Submits Letter Of Defection To PDP

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, formally notified the leadership of PDP of his resignation as a member of the ruling party.

The resignation notice was contained in a three-paragraph letter addressed to Jada II ward chairman of PDP in Adamawa State, a copy of which was made available to newsmen.

The letter was copied to the local government chairman of the party, the state chairman and the national chairman.

As of press time, there had been no official statement from the national secretariat of the party in Abuja over the defection of the former vice president, but a reliable source at Wadata Plaza, headquarters of PDP, confirmed the receipt of the letter earlier in the day but declined further comment.

“I write to formally inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective February 3, 2014.

“The attached press statement that I issued today outlines my reasons for resigning from the PDP. Thank you and best regards,” Atiku’s letter read.

The former vice president defected to APC in a ceremony attended by party leaders in Yola, Adamawa State capital.
