An
Abuja-bound Arik Air flight from Lagos was involved in a near crash yesterday
evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in what a passenger described
as a result of “control disorder” from the plane.
However, an
official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said no such
incident was reported to the authority.
The passenger, who was onboard the aircraft, said Arik Air flight Number 155 departed Lagos and was due to arrive Abuja at 6.30p.m., but could not land due to what the cabin crew described as control-disorder.

He said:
“There was heavy panic all the way with prayers that we survived as the entire
passengers fell over each other in prayer.”
The
passenger added that the plane spent more than an hour in the air before it
managed to land.
Efforts to speak with the General Manager, Communications, FAAN, Mr. Yakubu Dati, were futile as his phone line could not be reached. .

A FAAN
official who later spoke on telephone, however said no such incident was
reported to the authority as at press time.
