Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi yesterday approved the
sack of the national deputy chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and
key loyalist of President Goodluck Jonathan, Prince Uche Secondus as the
chairman, board of directors of the Port Harcourt Flour Mills Limited.
Amaechi also approved the sack of the pioneer state woman leader of the PDP Madam Jane Nna Chinwa, as a member and representative of the State government in the board.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the commissioner for Commerce and Industry Chuma Chinye said the governor approved the appointment of the former commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Marcus Nle Eji and Mr Francis Elechi, as the new chairman and member respectively of the board.
Although, the state government gave no reason for the development, it was learnt that it might not be unconnected with the ongoing political crisis in the state, as both Secondus and Chinwa belong to the camp of the supervising minister of Education, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike.
The statement directed the ministries of Finance, Commerce, and Industry to ensure that necessary steps were taken without delay to formalise the changes.
