Former governor of Anambra State Dr. Chukwuemeka
Ezeife, has declared that Nigeria may break up if President Goodluck Jonathan
was disallowed from running for a second term in office.
Ezeife, who
stated this in an interview in Abuja,
said: “At this juncture in Nigerian history, President Jonathan’s interest in a
second term and Nigerians’ interest in the continued existence of the country
have become coterminous.”
He also insisted that those opposed to President
Jonathan’s convening of a national conference were also opposed to Nigeria’s
continued existence as a united country.
He said: “If you
say because you oppose President Jonathan’s bid for a second term in office,
you are also opposed to a National Dialogue, you are saying no to one Nigeria.
“ The truth of the matter is that opposing President Jonathan’s
second term is like opposing the continued existence of Nigeria as one united
country.
“What do you think would happen if as a result of the
handiwork of the opposition, President Jonathan is disallowed from running for
a second term in office? Can you control what would happen?
“ Whether you are from the North, South or West, you
can’t stop President Jonathan from going for a second term and winning.
“Everybody can make noise but if those who are making
noise should think deeply, they would realize that the continued existence of
Nigeria as one country is anchored on Jonathan’s continuation in office come
2015.”
On what would happen if President Jonathan contested
the election and lost, he said: “We would be faced with the same problem. The
Niger Delta boys would blow up all the oil pipelines and then a part of the
country could say they are no longer interested in Nigeria; they could say
Nigeria legally expired when the nation marked its centenary and that they are
now on their own.
“This is not what I want, but I am afraid it could
happen if we foolishly think of only our short term interest, instead of
thinking of long term implications.
“However, if Jonathan contests and loses in a free and
fair election where Nigerians truly vote against him, it would be less bloody
than if he is not allowed to contest at all.”
Hahahahahahahah!tell them wat de don't know
ReplyDeleteI support u sir, let divid
ReplyDeleteIs this man serious? Na wah ooo! Looks like selfishness has taken over nigerian plitics permanently, is even legal for this guy to make this assumptions?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous15/1148:12am.so don't u know dat de man is very serious about it?is not a selfish intrest north and west have taking nigeria as there persnal land where housa will rule finish and past to yeruba it is now like hosband and wife to dem.den igbos now become slaves
DeleteWhat a nonsense talk, let him loose first & lets see what happen bcause we Nigerians are not going to vote 4 him again no matter any threat 4rm any quarters,y should we vote 4 someone looting our treasure dry & giving us hardship,we will vote him out come 2015
ReplyDeleteRaphael whose interest do you represent? You appear to be a war mornger. Remember bullet and bombs do not discriminate.
DeleteThe threat to Nigeria's continued existence is real. Nigerian politicians, President, Buhari,Tinubu, Amechi, CP Mbu, Mark,Tumbuwwal, senators, members of house, ministers, governors should ask "on which side of history" will they be if Nigeria goes up in inflames. While many Churches are doing 100 days, 60 days, 30 days fasting for peace and survival of the country, Politicians are behaving like agents of satan. Their statements and actions seem to suggest that they are bent on actualising CIA prediction of break up of Nigeria by 2015. They should remember Liberia, Serria leone, Somalia, Bosnia, Rwanda, Congo. The wheels the are turning now may spin out of their control. They should know in the present political situation we are not fighting any foriegn or colonial power. It should be only a game of politics and interests within a family. They should moderate their utterances and actions.I have experienced one civil war and I don't want my children to experience any.
ReplyDeleteGoodluck is d best president nigeria ever had.he will contest n win come 2015. APc Supporters ar just noice makers.
ReplyDeleteHow can this man tied the future of Nigeria to one man,how can u tied our future to one region(niger delta),all in the name of one nation.if Nigeria didn't not feel comfortable with him as a president then let him return to class. If fact neither pdp nor AC deserve to be our next president. We need fresh people at the corridor of power not these evil PDP or AC.But if breaking up is the will of God noting anyone can do about it.
ReplyDeleteEzeife's prediction is idiotic & out of touch with reality.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you
DeleteFor those of you who feel that Nigeria is tied together by a serious bond, you will be surprised to know that it is simply APP : AFRICAN PATCH PATCH. Please NOT AWUSA PEOPES PARTY.
ReplyDeleteIt is not only the IGBOS who want to succeed. The North ( HAUSA) wanted to do same in the sixties under the leadership of a barrel head like Murtala Mohammed. It is the Americans and the English who advised them against it because they did not see how Northerners will sell groundnut and cotton to run a state out of its backwardness. Anyway BOKO HARAM is already working on another version of that state.
Equally, the Yorubas have already created their won state named the Ododuwa Republic and it makes no difference if OBJ is in or out. That said we already have three Republics just waiting for the appropriate moment.
This said Dr EZEIFE is simply talking of what is already going on.
It is not idiotic buh real. An hausa man had said this kind of thing b4 that if GEJ contested in 2015 Nigeria will breakup. Atiku, Buhari, Bambuwal, Amechi, Tinubu, OBJ, (APC in general) have all made one comment or the other regarding GEJ's contesting in 2015. That's y they're ganging up in APC to forestall his eligibility to run. We're watching all of them. As if we r not running democratic government, they don't want to allow him contest and the electorate vote him out. In fact, black man is stupid in reasoning and thinking. NIGERIA WILL BURN LIKE HELL IF THIS BEST PRESIDENT NIGERIA HAS IS STOPPED FROM CONTESTING. OBJ was there 8 good years, yet he sold off all our parastatals, government owned establishments, managed our petroleum resources single-handedly buh removed fuel subsidy more than 12times. In fact let every good thinking Nigerian begin to mourn this comatose called Nigeria because it will end in 2015.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is bitter, but why are the hausa's and yoruba's scared of Disintergration since they feel that the SS and SE can't rule over them? I think its the greed that the north and SW has toward the SS and SE oil rich region? Why do we pretend to be one nation when some state in the north are sharia state or when a yoruba man can't become a governor of a state in the northern or eastern part of the country?
ReplyDeleteGbaaam! Ask them!
