The plan to remove embattled Chairman of PDP ,Bamanga Tukur thickened on
Tuesday with all the state and FCT chairmen of the PDP
passing a no confidence vote in him.
The chairmen did this at their emergency meeting, which was held at
Three G hotel, Utako, Abuja.
At the meeting, which was monitored by our
correspondent, all the chairmen agreed that the the PDP
national chairman should leave office.
One of the chairmen, who did not want his name in
print, said they would take their resolution to
Jonathan on Wednesday(today).
He said with their decisions, Tukur would have no
option but to resign before or at the NEC meeting
on Thursday.
The state chairman said, “You can see what we have done tonight
(Tuesday). The passing of vote of no confidence in Tukur signifies
the end of his removal.
“We are going to meet with the President tomorrow (today) and tell him
our resolution.
“We won’t allow him to kill the party before asking him to leave. Enough
of this rubbish.”
There is a division in the NWC of the PDP which the national chairman
heads. About eight out of the 12 member body spurned an emergency meeting
convened by Tukur on Monday
The NWC members had at their meeting with the President last
week listed many infractions against the national chairman,
including running a one-man show.
Some PDP governors are known to be against his continued leadership of
the party and had therefore openly called for his removal.
The PDP caucus met on Tuesday
evening at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting,
which was expected to deliberate on Tukur’s fate, had
Jonathan, Sambo, the BOT
Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih; and the Majority Leader of
the House of Representatives, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, in attendance.
Many PDP governors, former PDP National Chairman, Ahmadu Ali; the Deputy
National Chairman, Uche Secondus; the National Woman Leader, Kema Chikwe;
a former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George; the Secretary, BOT,
Alhaji Walid Jubril; the Minister of Transport, Idris Umar; the Attorney
General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke; and the
Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, also attended the
meeting
Others were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark; the
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu; the Senate Leader,
Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba; the Speaker, House of Representatives,
Aminu Tambuwal; and his Deputy, Emeka Ihedioha.
Tukur arrived before others for the caucus meeting. He was believed to
have met with Jonathan before the commencement of the caucus meeting.
The caucus meeting ended in a deadlock at about 11pm.
Sambo, who briefed State House correspondents, said the meeting did not
arrive at any conclusion.
He said the meeting was adjourned till 6pm on Wednesday (today).
“We have just concluded this evening’s PDP caucus meeting and we have
adjourned and will continue by 6pm tomorrow. After the meeting tomorrow, we
will inform you of the decision of the caucus,” Sambo said.
