Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Friday,
declared that he was still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking on arrival in Benin, Edo State, the Speaker debunked
insinuations that he was dumping the party for the All Progressives Congress.
Tambuwal, who was on a courtesy call to government house, Benin, shortly
after paying a condolence visit to the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba Erediauwa, on
the death of his eldest wife, Queen Esther Erediauwa, said Governor Oshiomhole
has continued to meet the expectation of the people of the state.
Asked if he was still a member of the PDP, he said, “I am still a member
of the PDP.”
Commenting on directives of the APC leadership to its elected members at
the National Assembly not to pass the 2014 budget, the Speaker said, “That
directive is meant for APC lawmakers and not me.”
He added that members of the House of Representatives had been calling
on the Federal Government and security agencies to do everything possible to
bring peace to Rivers State.
