Hundreds of protesters from the
four-Ikwerre speaking council areas of Rivers State, on Tuesday, took over the
busy Port Harcourt-Aba Road in Port Harcourt, expressing solidarity for the
state Commissioner of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu.
They disrupted traffic flow on the
road and caused panic in surrounding areas.
Following the protest, the
Rivers State government has accused those it described as Federal Government
agents as the sponsors of the protest, adding that the state had been subjected
to war by the Federal Government.
The protesters, under the aegis of
Ikwerre Peoples Assembly (IPA), took over the GRA Junction point of the
highway, vowing to shut public and multinational facilities down should the
commissioner of police be transferred out of the state.
The protest, which lasted about one
hour, had a full police cover.
The protesters described Mbu in
glowing terms, adding that his problem with the state government was his
refusal to be used against those opposed to the governor.
The spokesman of
the group, Chima Boms, who was also the counsel to the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission headed by the late Justice Kayode Eso (JSC), also said Mbu had
performed creditably well in the state.
According to Boms, “CP Mbu, in our
estimation, has performed creditably well and deserves commendation. We,
therefore, request that he continues to serve in Rivers State for the good of
the people. Consequently, the Ikwerre Peoples’ Assembly will resist any attempt
to redeploy CP Mbu as commissioner of police in Rivers State as such move will
take us back to the dark era.’’
See how they are wasting their time on the streets. I wonder whether the children of wike Jonathan mbu was among the protesters. Foolish people who have sold their conscience for peanuts. Let your governor work.
ReplyDeleteWas Amaechi, Magnus, Buhari, Tinubu etc children among those who protested earlier?
DeleteWe all know that d protest was sponsored by d federal government of Jonathan, but they will fail bcause dat tout called Mbu must be transfer else both IGP nd d CP rivers Jonathan must be relieve of their jobs according to house of rep
ReplyDeleteSenseless Raphael. U will be disappointed.
DeleteIdiot this is democracy, people must say their mind,Alhaji Amechi has lost sense of direction and focus.the truth need to be told.
ReplyDeleteAnd police guiding dem no disruption!Nigeria, who is fooling who?when the pro Amechi people start theirs, police. Will shoot and throw tear gas at dem!!! God is watching and we are watching !!!
ReplyDeleteI feel pity for these jobless Ikwerre youths allowing themselves to be used by politicians when their children are in best schools abroad. Why not allow Amaechi who were former allies now worst enemies fight it out themselves? They know what they're doing.
ReplyDeleteAmaechi needs to be careful, he has created enemies for himself
ReplyDeleteIdleness
ReplyDeleteRaphael, why re you always against the president, you haven't appreciated him for once? Bros take am easy abeg
ReplyDeleteDo the crowd now come out in this way to tell the govt the cp they want? Is posting of cp now by choice or election? Why was one set favoured&given covering&the other teargased&shot? How do we verify these are Ikwerre people? This is an evil wind. It will blow the entire state no good at the end of the day by then all the mecernaries& strangers including CP,police spokesman etc will not be n the state then Amaechi, Wike, Jonathan& Patience( Mama Patience) will see the inculable damages they have done to this state. A man who throws a stone in the market may not tell whom it will hit. Gowon& Ojukwu who felt they must show supremacy and the country to war were alive after while my uncle, brothers etc lost their lives.
ReplyDeleteThey ve been paid, stupid people that is how they will end on d street wit 1000k in their pocket
ReplyDeleteI never knew Mbu,belongs to a political party until is supporters can out. Where were these fools when people were being kidnapped in Rivers. These is the first in the history of Nigeria. We all know the truth. Mbu and wike, can't stop Amaechi. Mbu,did not see these people on the street or the took permission from the Police?
ReplyDeleteThis is to tell Nigerian that all that Mbu said on the interview are all lies . Am certain Jonathan will fail because the hand of God is in Ameachi's leadership. This is the problem with our Niger Delta, they easily mortgage their conscience because of little money . That is why that region will never develope. The people there , hate truth and prefers lies and money . Am ashame to have come from this part of the world . I strongly believe God will destroy Wike and Jonathan as well patience Jonathan
