A bride narrowly escaped death in an
auto crash while on her way from her wedding. The accident involving a
NNPC tanker with number plate XG 321 MKA, a cargo truck and two saloon
cars happened at about 4: 45pm on Saturday, close to the Otedola bridge,
Alausa, on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
A witness to the accident said the
NNPC truck, while descending the slop from Alausa at top speed, could not hold
its break. It then ran into the first car and squashed the second one against
the cargo truck.
The bride and her husband were said
to have jumped out of their car.
When our reporter got to the scene of
the accident, the groom was no where in sight. The groom’s elder sister who
spoke to our repoter while cuddling her baby explained that they were just
coming from the wedding reception of the couple.
She was seen kneeling down and
thanking God for their escape but refused to give the name of the couple.
The fire coming out of the truck was
put out by sympathisers as the tanker was carrying petroleum product. The
accident also resulted in gridlock which was controlled by men of the
Federal Road Safety Corps.

ReplyDeleteThank God,we shall all see the end of this year 2013 IJN
ReplyDeleteI hate the word "cheated Death" because you just can't and no body lives for ever.
ReplyDeleteEvery body has an appointed time and place and when that time comes you can't change it. Just like in examination hall when they say pencil up. This world is an examination hall work with out acountability and in the hereafter no work but you will acount for everything.
Nobody can cheat death.
ReplyDeleteGod is wolderfull thank u heaven God
ReplyDeleteGod i bless your name for dis wondeful miracle..
ReplyDeleteWhat is d problem you shallow minded critics, did CKN Invent d idiom "cheated death"?. She cheated death means she narrowly escaped death.
ReplyDeleteMy dear, Buzen, tell them.people eeehh. I too know don too plenty,we should all be thankful to God they are still alive
ReplyDeleteYou are of the 'I too stupid persons' around
DeleteDis is a miracle
ReplyDeleteBuzen,in Journalism, there are certain expressions known as clichés. They are well -worn,banal and trite phrases stripped of freshness. These expressions, like 'cheated death' Is one of them and are often shunned by trained Reporters, but gleefully used by lazy and pupil Reporters like these ones in CKN. Hope you 'v been educated.
ReplyDeleteWhat d he'll are you talking about ? , I am trained journalist and cheated death is an Idiomatic expression and such s darling of any prolific writer
DeleteAnonymous 7.21pm .You have just proved that you were badly 'trained',otherwise you should have known that when idiomatic or any other expression is over used,it becomes insipid, worn out,and banal.Such expressions are the refuge of 'prolific' writers like you and your kinds, who argue stupidly on this platform. I advise you to swallow your foolish pride and read up to bring yourself close to my level, rather than disgrace your clan by flaunting your emptiness here. You can't,repeat,CAN'T ,match my intelligence.'Fish head'!
DeleteWas this story written in English? I doubt! What does the writer mean by 'slop' and 'hold break'? CKN,please engage competent hands and stop debasing journalism. If you can't,then fold up
ReplyDeleteCKN, you copied verbatim (including infractions) from Punch.Copy Copy Reporters!
ReplyDeleteCKN never told anyone of u Critics to subscribe to them, so please !! On the issue of cheating death, its just an idiom u brainless twit, u seem not to be happy the couple survived the accident. MtcheeewW !! Player Haters !!!!!! Go and reverse it now olodo !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis issue is not for an ibex like you,so shut your smelling mouth.Have you heard of the word 'cliche' before? Instead of learning from me you are busy flaunting your ignorance.Go read up! 'Ewu'!
DeleteAbeg journalism and English which one come 1st.
ReplyDeleteInteresting question! Before I answer, google the word CLICHÉ,first of all.Don't beg the issue in a fallacy! The trouble with you is that, you refuse to learn in humility.
DeleteCurious question indeed! Its like asking, writing and English, which came first? A well-worn expression is a worn- out expression, whether in speech or writing, Journalism or Poetry,Essay or what have you
DeleteEmpty barrels make the loudest noise. Instead of you people accepting corrections, you are busy arguing rubbish. You have been told about CLICHÉS why not google and confirm before joining issues with this guy who sounds knowledgeable?
ReplyDeleteAmazing how this has diverted the subject matter, instead of pple to thank God for sparing the lives of this young couple, this must be d devil at work.
ReplyDeleteBeloved ones, must you fight over every reported issue, what will happen when you meet face to face. Cliche can be True or not, even if the word was used or over used, as long as we have gotten the information, let us put back our sword and comment with love also correct one's mistake with love., please let us thank God for the lives of this couple. God is indeed faithful.
ReplyDeleteRev.Prince, It is not a matter of speculation.Let people learn to cross- check issues and accept their mistakes before blabbing.Pride is the root of some aspects of stupidity. It is not enough to just write to pass info. There is a prescribed standard for doing so,especially in formal writing. If I meet these fools physically, I would thrash the stupidity out of them!
ReplyDeleteSince this guy mentioned the word 'cliche( which many of you heard for the first time and can't even pronounce),how many have checked it in the dictionary?
ReplyDeleteThe only Clichy I know plays for Mancity
ReplyDeleteMay the name of the lord be praised.
ReplyDeleteYou adults r talking like children, so wat is arguument abt huh? If anyone make mistake here, it ur place to correct one anoda, stop acting like u too know.. Afteral wen time reach ur grammer can not safe u from death..you will all die with ur educatn..so ple lets just give God thanks for the couple's lives..may God bless u all.
