The Enugu chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) yesterday
honoured the National Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),
South-East, Comrade Christopher Isiguzo with a meritorious award as friend of
the guild.
The Guild as honoured the AGN National President, Ibinabo Fiberisima with the title of “Ada Di Ora Nma”, (unique daughter), while other notable actors and actresses including Charles Awurum, Chidiebere and Chidinma Aneke also known as the Aneke twins as well as Chief Chika Okpala also known as Zebrudaya in the New Masquerade television series. The former Vice President of the Radio, Televeision and Theatre Workers Union (RATTAWU) for south-east and an ace broadcaster, Ndudi Chude was also honoured.
The chairman of the AGN, Enugu, Stan Amandi who spoke at AGN “Evening with Nollywood Stars and award ceremony held at the New Berries Park and Events Enugu said the award was presented to Isiguzo for his immense and outstanding contributions to the movie industry in the state and south east at large, as well as achievements since he emerged as the Vice President of NUJ in the country.
He also praised other award recipients for their worthy contributions to the growth of the movie industry, noting that the guild had lined up a number of activities in the coming year that would go a long way in changing the entertainment industry in the zone.
Receiving the award, Isiguzo pledged to continue his support for the guild noting that NUJ and the AGN had a lot in common in the area of informing, educating and entertaining the populace.
He therefore urged governments at all levels to continue to invest in the entertainment industry which he observed had continued to grow in leaps and bounds in the past 20 years the motion picture industry began in the country.
“This is one industry that has continued to give the country a good image before the international community,” he said, while commending President Goodluck Jonathan for his numerous supports for the industry
