There are conflicting reports from staff of Government House, Owerri,
over the alleged face-off between Governor Rochas Okorocha and his Deputy,
Prince Eze Madumere.
A school of thought hinged the alleged face-off between the duo to an alleged plan by Madumere to build a political structure to actualize his gubernatorial ambition in 2015.
According to the source, “the frosty relationship between the governor and his deputy has led to the absence of Madumere from public functions for quite some time.”
Another source however explained that Madumere “has been down with a critical leg fracture”, which requires urgent medical attention.
They equally maintained that the deputy governor had been suffering from this medical problem since his days as chief of staff.
It was gathered that “when the pain became very serious, Madumere reported his predicament to his boss and was granted permission to travel to United States of America for surgery.”
Reacting to this development, the Deputy Governor’s media aide, Mr. Uche Onwuchekwa, debunked the rumour now making the rounds that there was a crack between Okorocha and Madumere.
He also denied the suggestion that the deputy governor had abandoned his office, adding that what the man needed now was prayers and not baseless rumours around his person.
“What the deputy governor needs is prayers for him to have a successful surgery and not to ridicule and castigate his person over a non-existent issue,” Onwuchekwa said.
