The police yesterday arraigned a herbalist, Atahiru Obey
(45) at a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrate’s Court, Abuja, for allegedly sodomising
two boys.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Atteh Effiong,
told the court that the offence was reported at the Life Camp Police Station on
November 26, by the mother of one of the boys.
He said the case was transferred to
the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, on December 6.
Effiong said the mother alleged that
the herbalist, living in Jabi Dakibiyu, Abuja, had been sodomising her son and
another boy, both aged 13 since last year.
The prosecutor told the court that
Obey sodomised the boys eight times.
Obey pleaded not guilty and the
Chief Magistrate, Anthony Ogboyi, granted him bail of N200,000 with one surety.
Ogboyi said the surety must reside
within the jurisdiction of the court, and together with the accused, deposit
their passport photographs with the court’s registrar.
He adjourned the case till February
7.
