I Won't Dump PDP Like My Husband..Minister

 

Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Olajumoke Akinjide, has said she will “never, ever” dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for any other party.

Akinjide, who stated this in a statement signed by her and made available to newsmen, on Thursday, spoke against the background of speculations in the media that she might be contemplating leaving the umbrella party, in view of the crisis rocking it.

She said such speculation was a figment of the imagination because she is the leader of the PDP in Oyo State, committed to the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, the return of PDP to power in the state and the success of the Transformation Agenda.

“In view of speculations rife in the press, I wish to state categorically that I will NEVER, EVER leave the PDP! The Akinjide family dynasty is loyal to the PDP and loyal to President Goodluck Ebele Jonthan.

“I am, and remain, proudly PDP! My father, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN) is a founding member of the PDP and a member of the PDP BOT. I am the arrowhead of the PDP in Oyo State as the Minister in an opposition state.

“I will continue to work hard to ensure the success of Mr President, the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government, and the victory of PDP at the polls in the 2015 election.

“I call on well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians to continue to support President Jonathan and ignore the “noise” and “chatters” being generated by those who, frankly, should know better, but who, understandably, are more at leisure than the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” she said.

It will be recalled that the Minister’s father and Second Republic Attorney- General, Chief Richard Akinjide, earlier in the week, issued a press statement in which he warned of negative consequences of the plot  against President Jonathan.

Her husband was one of the 37 House of Representatives members who recently defected from the PDP to APC
