ANOTHER twin explosion yesterday
rocked Buguma, headquarters of Asaritoru Local Government Area, causing panic
and tension.
The incident occurred in the evening
during the inauguration of Asaritoru local government wing of Save Rivers
Movement, at the Kalabari National College, KNC, premises.
When contacted for comment, the state
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said he was not aware of
the development.
It will be recalled that last week,
explosives were hurled at the state deputy governor’s wing of Government House,
Port Harcourt, a development that reportedly shattered the windscreen of some
vehicles.
Barely twenty four hours after the
incident at the deputy governor’s office, another explosion was reported at the
official car park of Justice C. Wali in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
This incident came barely 48 hours
after Justice Wali delivered a verdict stopping a member of the state House of
Assembly, Evans Bipi, from parading as speaker of the state House of Assembly.
Yesterday’s twin explosion at the KNC
premises did not abort the inauguration of the Save Rivers Movement in the
local government as it still went on smoothly after the panic generated by the
incident had died down.
State Chairman of the SRM, Mr.
Charles Ahonu, said the body would align with the All Progressives Congress,
APC, describing it as the only party that could lead the state out of the
woods.
He said they were in the local
government to inaugurate the wing of the SRM, adding that they were convinced
in the ability of the APC to take the state to greater heights.
Interim chairman of the state chapter
of the APC, Davies Ikanya, said Kalabari people had dumped the PDP for the APC
in the state.
Ikanya, who was chairman of the event, said the APC had also swept all parts of the state.
Ikanya, who was chairman of the event, said the APC had also swept all parts of the state.
He said the mother of all rallies of
the APC would hold in the state today at the Liberation stadium, Port Harcourt.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi, members of the National Assembly in the party, the state legislators are among those he said would be in attendance.

DeleteWhat kind of foolish comments am I seeing here? When will Nigerians use their brians? Why do we take sides foolishly to our own detriment? Look at the story carefully and compare it with other cases.
ReplyDeleteThe bombs went off and after the scare the innauguration still went on. This is a far cry from what is obtainable in other parts of the country where bombs has been exploding. When bombs explode, people avoid public gathering for the rest of that day and indeed that week for fear of not being victims of bomb blast but such is not the case in Rivers state. Who is fooling who? Since when did people stop being afraid of bombs? It is obvious that the people who called that gathering knew there was no danger to be afraid of and that it because they were the ones who planted the bombs just to make their opponents look like the culprits.
Some foolish Nigerians are singing the praise of APC. If I may ask,who are those in APC? are they not the same rogues that have looted our treasury? are they not the same corrupt elements that have dragged our dear country back? What exactly are we celebrating and why are we taking sides thereby enabling all these corrupt individuals? Awake Nigerians awake, its time to move away from partisan politics.
God bless Nigeria.
This is unfortunate act, we in the South now know the Boko Haram in the North is just the work of GEJ. Well, here we will tackle u equally. I am so worried for our fellow Nigerians in the North
