Water Truck Kills Four Primary School Pupils In Lagos

Tragedy struck at Ikota area of Ajah community in Lagos State on Monday morning as four  primary school pupils were feared  crushed to death by a truck on the Lekki-Ajah Expressway.

One person was also reportedly hit by stray bullets from policemen who tried to disperse angry villagers who protested on the expressway, asking for the presence of the Lagos State governor before the road would be reopened.

The villagers unanimously blamed the Monday killings  on the non-availability of a pedestrian bridge for thousands of residents  and indigenes of the village, including hapless school pupils who cross the road almost daily.

It was gathered that students of Ikota Primary School were trying to cross the expressway when a water tanker, with the registration number SZ 87 JJJ,  rammed into the school children. Three of the pupils reportedly died in the process, prompting serious protest from residents of the village, and hoodlums took advantage of the situation to take the law into their own hands.

The situation resulted in a serious commotion as the angry crowd blocked the ever busy  expressway, calling for  Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to visit the area before the state would be reopened.
