Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Tuesday sent a list of 12
commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly, after over five weeks of
dissolution of the cabinet.
Five of the former members made the list read to the hearing of the House by the Speaker of House, Hon Monsurat Sunmonu at the Tuesday plenary session.
The former commissioners who are making their return to Ajimobi’ government include Barrister Adebayo Ojo, Dapo Lam-Adesina, Princess Adetutu Akhigbe Adeyemi, Dr. Muiwa Gbadegesin and Zacheus Adelabu while the new nominees are Prof. S. O. A Olaniyan, Princess Olufunke Oworu, Prince Gbade Lana, Faruk Umar Alao and Engineer Deji Akande.
Others are Honourable Adewale Lawrence Olujide and Mr. Abiodun Fatai Atanda.
All the nominees have been directed to appear for screening by 9.00am today, Wednesday, at the House of Assembly, with 40 copies of their credentials.
It is recalled that Governor Ajimobi on Monday September 23 dissolved the state’s cabinet.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers have approved another six months tenure extension for the Transition Committee chairmen in 32 local government councils of the state. The approval follows a request sent to the House by the state governor, Senator Ajimobi but final decision on Ogo-Oluwa Local Government was, however, stalled.
The current six month term is expected to lapse on Thursday November 7.
However, Hon Adeniyi Farinto representing Iwajowa State Constituency on Tuesday admitted that members of the House were quite aware of a pending court case which has incapacitated the governor to constitute the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
Farinto thus enjoined Governor Ajimobi “to do everything within his reach to see that the case is dispelled off, “to give way for the election of council chairmen in the state.
