Olusegun Agagu's coffin that was being conveyed by the late Pilot |
The interment, Tuesday, of the late
Captain Abdulraheem Ajao Yakubu, 64, who died in the Associated Plane crash of
October 3, was a low-key event at his 22, Fola Azeez, Alakuko, Lagos home.
Captain Yakubu flew the plane that
was conveying the body of the late former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun
Agagu, to Akure.
Despite the windy downpour, his
family members and friends were present to honour him – for the last time.
One of the guests told the others,
“let’s do it for him. This is what they call last respect.”
The late pilot was buried in front
of his deep brown one storey house.
His wife, a tall, beautiful and fair
complexioned woman, Mrs Temilola Yakubu, 62, was in tears in the lavishly
furnished sitting room of the late pilot, as sympathisers consoled her.
Their three children, Tunde, the
first son, 36, Bimpe, 32 and Laide, 31 – all dressed in white wept throughout
the interment.
At the entrance of the late pilot’s
residence was a condolence table, on which laid his photograph, pilot’s cap and
a notebook, which about 240 sympathisers had signed as at 3.41pm.
Most of the writings simply read:
“May your soul rest in peace”.
