Anambra State University Named After Ojukwu

Anambra State University, Uli, has been renamed after the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
The declaration was made Sunday morning in a live cast on Anambra Broadcasting Service by Governor Peter Obi.
He restated the commitment of his administration to transform and restore standards in all sectors, as well as the recognition of role models.
Obi called on the people to continue to support the state, as they are all stakeholders in the drive to make Anambra greater.
Late Ojukwu was a Nigerian military officer, who served as the Military Governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria in 1966.
From 1967 to 1970, he led an army of loyalists, in an unsuccessful attempt to breakaway from Nigeria to form the Republic of Biafra.
Ojukwu, who contested the 2003 presidential elections, died on November 26, 2011, aged 78.
