The family of late Oziddi king Sunny
Okosuns has rejected the paternity of a lady who claims to be his daughter.Ethel Okosuns won the Miss Earth Nigeria pageant in 2005 and is currently the project director of Exquisite Face of Africa pageant. In an interview with Vanguard just last month, Ethel talked about growing up as Sunny Okosuns' daughter and said she still missed her dad...
But the Okosuns family in a statement exclusively made available to Vanguard and signed by the singer’s son, Sidney Ehimare Okosuns disowned Ethel. The wrote:
"We wish to state categorically that Ms. Ethel is not our
sibling. She is not the daughter of our father. Our father had four children:
Sidney Okosuns, Michael Okosuns, Adesuwa Okosuns and Ebony Okosuns.
This is not the first time Ms. Ethel has … used our late father’s
image and likeness as “name dropping” to achieve whatever affluence she seeks.
She needs to stop identifying herself as the daughter of the Ozziddi great
musician.
Years ago, Ms. Ethel as a teenager wondered into our Yaya Abatan home. Our parents ran a liberal attitude home, welcoming visitors and strangers to our sprawling Ogba Estate. Thus, our home was always busy with people from all walks of life.
Ms. Ethel walked into our home, pleaded with my dad that she wanted to sing and had no other place to live in Lagos. My parents welcome her to our compound, offered her unconditional food, shelter and love. She never left for several years. The generosity and kindness of providing her food and shelter does not give her automatic birth right to the Okosuns.”

I sense envying this damsel, are you angry cuz she's got upper hand than u the real blood of Okosun, you don't have to disgrace her this much, if she wnts to be part of you, its because she love your family, thank God she still reckon with your family despite her achievement.

ReplyDeleteI realy don't understand why d late legend's son is picking dis up as an issue. The report abt dis lady is not a negative one neither has she in anyway disregarded d name of d family. I guess he shld grow to understand dat parenting is of two types: biological n social parents.* ones teacher, tutor, mentor etc, are regarded as social parents.*
ReplyDeleteI think this is gone to far, disrespecting dad, s memory this way does not make sense, he was a father that loved and accommodated all, if he acknowledged her as his daughter when he was alive then what is the fuss about.she has a phone, as you claim you know her so well u would have called her to talk about this instead of all this media rubbish.una wey dey fight as real children make una go work or do something reasonable with yourselves, the man has tried and his resting, let him rest well and stop making him turn in his grave. Rubbish.....

The owner of the property is dead so don't die protecting his sweat. What if she's truly Sunny Okosuns daughter? Pls let her be,she has a job,so repect her even if she's a wanderer that likes ur dad.

ReplyDeleteEverybody here is blaming sydney, asking him to get a life and stop fussing over his Dad's estates. Has any of you asked what the sydney guy do for a living. What makes u all think sydney might not be living a life on his own, irrespective of his dads achievment? The lady in question became popular bc she's in the show biz, a celebrity, beauty queen. Must every body be in the limelight to be recognised. Pls free sydneym. That he doesn't want her in their family doesn't mean he does not have a career himself. He might be a DR or Engineeer earning big money somewhere in a multinational, or self employed succesful biz man. Pls u all should grow up!

ReplyDeleteI believe the lady has a mother. Let the mother come out and talk. If the lady is sure, she can go for DNA test to certify her daughtership. However, Sydney may not know his father very well. Some truth may not come out until you are dead. Sydney did not claim ignorance of the lady when the father was around. What if she was born outside wedlock and the father was trying to integrate her stylishly into the family. Gabriel
