Is the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
broke?, well these are the questions some staff of the organization spoken to
by CKN Nigeria are asking.
The company responsible for over 90%
of Nigeria’s revenue seems to be heading from broke if the fillers we are
getting from some of its staff are anything to go by.
According to them who spoke with us
on condition of anonymity from the company’s headquarters in Abuja, for three
months now, they have been having delayed salary. Their salary which normally
was paid on the 23rd of every month now gets delayed till the last
day of every month now.
This according to them is the very
first time such is happening in the life of the corporation.
According to our investigation, the staff
have to now have to readjust themselves.
Those spoken to said this latest
development is giving the staff course for worry and they hope this will not
lead to staff rationalization.
The NNPC parades some of the best paid
staff in Nigeria with huge salaries far ahead of that of average Nigerians.
An attempt by CKN Nigeria to get the
reaction of the Group Director, Public Affairs of NNPC to speak on this
development was not successful before going to press..
