On 4 October 2013, the Firm of Jean Chiazor & Co. led by the formidable team of Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere, Austin Otah Jr, Emeka Oriaku, Ben Nweze and Dozie Kalu, won a landmark case against the Nigerian Navy represented by the team of Mr Asemota and Mr Okohue. The Claimants, who they represented, included 3 Rear Admirals, 1 Navy commodore, 3 Navy captains, 1 navy commander and 1 Navy Lt. Commander.
The National Industrial Court (nic), presided over by His Lordship Babatunde Adejumo, passed judgment in favour of the Claimants whereby he ordered that all the Claimants should be reinstated into the Navy and that the Rear Admirals who unfortunately had attained retirement age should be paid their full entitlements.
This was against the unlawful dismissal of these fine Officers from the N/Navy in 2007. The case had lasted 6 years and 7 months having suffered a series of transfers from one court to another the last transfer being predicated on the amendment of the Constitution in 2011.
