Robbers Raid Three Banks In Kaduna, Kill Two People


 
A soldier and two policemen were reportedly killed during an exchange of gunfire with a gang of suspected armed robbers in Saminaka, Lere Local Government area of Kaduna State on Thursday night.
A resident of Saminaka, who preferred anonymity, said that the robbers stormed three commercial banks in the town at about 9.00p.m. on Thursday and explosions were heard till about 2.00 a.m. on Friday as the security agents tried to confront the robbers, which made many residents of the town ran for their lives.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Mr Adefemi Adenike, said on phone that the armed robbers came to the town in a very large number with explosives, and confirmed the death of the policemen during the encounter.
He said there were also casualties on the side of the armed robbers, and denied that it was a terrorist attack.
More soldiers and other security agents had been deployed to the town, which is about two hours drive from Kaduna and shares borders with Plateau, Bauchi and Kano states
