O'Tega Emerhor Defeats Festus Keyamo To Pick APC Ticket

Olorogun O’Tega Emerhor, has emerged All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the Delta Central senatorial by-election billed for October 5.
His main opponent, Festus Keyamo, pulled out of the party’s primaries, Wednesday, though he got 36 votes.
He cited irregularities in membership registration among other reasons,
Chairman of the party’s Primary Committee, Senator Osita Izunaso, who announced the result in Ughelli, said that  Emerhor polled 1,674 of the delegates’ votes.
He said Keyamo and Emerhor were the two aspirants screened by the party before the primary election was held.
However, Keyamo, in a petition, to the Chairman, APC Delta Central Senatorial Bye-Election, announcing his pull-out from the primaries after being cleared to contest, said: “I  have taken a painful but necessary decision not to participate in the primaries to be organised later today (Wednesday), in Ughelli, because the whole exercise is nothing but a sham that is packaged, rigged and concocted to favour my opponent, Emerhor.
“The exercise was preceded on September 24, 2013 by registration of limited number of members of APC in Delta State since there were no registered members before now, being a newly registered party.
“In the said exercise, it was agreed with members of your committee that the slots for the registration cards for the new members would be distributed evenly among former members of the merging parties in each local government area.”
