The Speaker of Kaduna State House of
Assembly, Alhaji Usman Gangara and his deputy, Dr. Mato Dogara and other
principal officers have been impeached by 18 members of the House
The 18 members loyal to the governor
upon arrival at the assembly complex first chose one of them, Philemon
Usman as protem speaker, after which he presided the house and subsequently
masterminded sitting that led to the emergence of Shehu Usman Tahir as Speaker
and Philip Adamu as his deputy respectively.
The
rest members of the house including the former Speaker and his deputy stayed
away from the meeting, having been briefed that the 18 members have sealed a
deal last night to remove them with a simple majority, without forming quorum.
But in a reaction this afternoon, the
speaker said the impeachment was a nullity , unconstitutional .He restated that
he still remains the speaker of the house.
