Abia State House of Assembly has
expressed concern over increasing cases of missing persons in the state,
describing it as worrisome.
The House, therefore, passed a
resolution calling on security agencies in the state to intensify efforts in
securing lives and property of residents of the state.
The resolution of the House followed
a matter of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Umuahia
Central constituency, Mrs. Grace Uche, on the increase in the number of
missing persons in the state.
The House also urged parents to
monitor and pay more attention to the movement of their children and wards,
especially in the last quarter of the year.
The House further called on the
people to always show greater interest and love in matters affecting their
neighbours, saying such a gesture would help tackle vices, such as cases of
missing persons.
Raising the concern of the House,
Mrs. Uche lamented the frequent report of missing persons in the state and
stressed the need for urgent steps to be taken to check the trend.
Describing the menace as
worrisome, Uche challenged security agencies in the state to rise to the
occasion and tackle the problem head-on.
