It was a hail of encomiums on Friday at the lying-in state ceremony for
the founder of the World Soul Winning Evangelic Ministry (WOSEM), Prophet Timothy
Obadare, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. Speaking at the ceremony, which
held at the Oshogbo Sports Stadium, Governor Rauf Aregbesola opened the
floodgate of the encomiums, when he said Obadare’s works and deeds would
forever remain evergreen in the history and lives of the people of the state.
The remains of the spiritual icon arrived the venue of the lying-in-state
ceremony in a long motorcade convoy from Akure, the Ondo State capital. The
motorcade was received by the leadership and members of the Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN) and hundreds of members of the ministry, including
state government officials, led by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Tourism
and Culture, Alhaji Sikiru Ayedun. Represented by the State Head of Service,
Mr. Yinka Owoeye, the governor charged Nigerians to emulate the late cleric for
his good works, which he said had positively touched many lives. Aregbesola,
who explained that there is no cause to mourn over the demise of the prophet,
described him as a great man, whose spirit will always live in the memory of
many, and the state in particular. He said: “His life should be a source of
challenge for the people on the earth surface, particularly the younger
generation. He is a rare gem and a gift to us all in the state. But as much as
we love him, the owner of the beautiful rose has taken it away.” Also speaking,
the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Osun State, Superior
Apostle Abraham Aladeseye, advised Nigerians not only to extol the virtues of late
Obadare, but to demonstrate such virtues in their daily lives. He described the
world renowned preacher as an example of Christ’s teachings and principles,
saying that the only way to properly extol him is to live the gospel he
preached, both in his sermons and lifestyle. Also, the National Publicity
Secretary of the Christ Apostolic Church Supreme Council Worldwide, Pastor
(Dr.) Olu Arijesudade, described Prophet Obadare was a rare gift to his
generation, adding that he touched many lives with the gospel he preached. A
son of the late WOSEM founder, Pastor Abraham Obadare, expressed gratitude to
God for the gift of “a father who taught us to live in peace with everyone, to
forgive everybody and most of all, to be heaven conscious.” He thanked Osun
State government and the people of the state for joining the family to bid his
father farewell. The lying-in-state ceremony was graced by dignitaries from the
political circles, ministers of God from all over the country and many of the
public who turned up to bid Obadare a final farewell.
