Gov Nyako Accuses FG Of Seizing Adamawa's N90b Fund

The Federal Government is withholding N90 billion belonging to Adamawa State, Governor Murtala Nyako has said.
The governor, who disclosed this yesterday during the sallah homage paid to him at the Government House, Yola by local government chairmen and area administrators, did not specify if it was the Federation Account or from contracts executed with the state funds on behalf of the Federal Government.
Nyako, however, reassured the council chairmen and the people that he would fulfil all his political promises before the end of his tenure despite all the odds against his administration.
He also appealed to the Abuja-based politicians to sheathe their swords and cooperate in the development of the state. He said that there was no need for any indigene to work against the state’s development based on political differences, which he described as pitiable.
In their homage, the 21 council chairmen have, however, aligned with the policy direction of the government, saying they were lofty and attainable. The council bosses also promised to stop any attempt by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to take over the party’s structure in the state from Nyako, ahead of 2015 general elections.
Their leader, Vandi Fanvanda, who is also state ALGON vice-chairman, said that they will continue to be loyal to the governor as the state leader of the party and support him in the battle against the Abuja-based politicians who want to take over the party’s structure illegally.
He said they are ready to shed their blood to defend the governor if the need arises. “We know that Tukur is hammering on the elections that brought us to office to humiliate you, but be rest assured that we are ready to shed our blood to defend you and our people if the need arises,” they said.
Also aligning with the council chairmen, the 36 development area administrators said that they were mobilising support for the Nyako administration.

Their spokesman, Mr Simon Inuaso, said having been in government for a long time, they have realised that Nyako’s critics are plotting to destroy Adamawa for unjust reasons He, however, said that they are working to ensure the success of the Nyako administration who took the state out of the woods, adding that they are the government at the grassroot and are close to the people.
