Enugu Airport Witness First International Flight

The First International Flight yesterday landed at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, four days to the official landing of International commercial Flights.
The first flight, which flew into Enugu directly from Europe and  Senegal, carried Billionaire businessman, Chief Arthur Eze.
The aircraft with registration number, No 5MPZE, which landed at the modernised airport at about 3.20pm direct from Senegal, is the first international aircraft to touch down at the airport after it was upgraded.
It could be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan gave approval for the upgrading of the airport to an international status two years ago and laid the foundation for the construction of the international wing early this year.
Though work on the project is still on going at the various sections of the airport, the Federal Ministry of Aviation has slated the official commencement of international flights from Enugu for Saturday with the Ethiopian airline billed to fly in and out of the coal city.
Briefing news men after the four-hour flight from Senegal to Enugu, Prince Eze commended President Jonathan for living up to his promise, stressing that the upgrading of the airport would boost the economy of the South East.
“Look at me, I flew from Senegal to Enugu for four hours non-stop. I don’t need to go to Lagos or Abuja to catch direct flight again to Europe or Senegal. I can now go from my house to any place of choice. It is a good thing and I thank God for the development. The people of the South East will live to enjoy this because it will grow our economy,” he said.

  7. Whoa ooo, all they have to do is bribe igbo people with a new airport and they stop complaining and start praising the government. Ok fine you gave us a new airport, that doesn't change the TONS of infrastructural problems in this area. It's a good start but I won't start clapping till I see significant change.

  9. @Anonymous 8.53PM..May i refresh your mind on how UAE starte with their prosperities...It started with good airport and seaports.so if GEJ will do more on the road issues,we will block every hausa/fulani from coming into our region to campaign...Because for over 38 years they forgot us and were using divide and rule method in our region.
