3 Journalists Die In Auto Accident

 
There were fears that three members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos Chapter died in a fatal motor accident Ilesa road in Osun State.
Information about the accident was scanty and conflicting as at press time when it was heard that one of the victims was a member of Abuja NUJ chapter who joined in the ill-fated journey.
Ten other Lagos NUJ officials on the bus survived the accident and are receiving treatment at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo. Sources said the Lagos NUJ officials were on their way back to Lagos after attending a function in Abuja
Reacting to the unfortunate incident,  the national Secretariat of  NUJ expressed regret over the incident saying, “The National Secretariat of the NUJ regrets to announce the involvement in a ghastly motor accident this evening of members of the Union from Lagos and Oyo States.
“The delegation which left Abuja earlier this (Friday) morning for home in a bus belonging to Lagos State Council after a meeting at the National Secretariat had an accident between Ile Ife and Ilesha in Osun State.
“All the victims of the mishap had been transferred from Ilesha General Hospital to the Teaching hospital in Oshogbo by the Osun State Government.
“In the interim, efforts are being made by the Union to assess the level of the casualties.”
