Wike,Others Visit Ailing Hon Chinda In London Hospital

Prominent leaders of Rivers State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have paid a visit to Hon Michael Chinda. The wounded lawmaker is receiving treatment in Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London. It would be recalled that a pro-Amaechi lawmaker and majority leader of Rivers State of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd severally smashed a wooden mace on his head and jaws on July 9th 2013, as a group of five lawmakers tried unsuccessfully to impeach the speaker of the house.
Among those who visited the injured legislator were Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Austin Opara, President of Nigeria Bar Association, Chief Okey Wali (SAN), and former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) National Treasurer, Mr. Kenneth Kobani. Others are former Transport Minister, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Rivers State PDP chairman, Chief Felix Obua and a former commissioner in the state, Mr. Bonny Iyaye.
Speaking after visiting the injured lawmaker, Wike appealed to Rivers people, especially the constituency where Chinda comes from to remain calm, assuring that justice would take its course.
Also in his speech, the PDP chairman expressed surprise that despite the devastating attack, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was yet to ask after the wounded lawmaker.
According to the text of the press release regarding the visit, issued from London, "The leaders were grateful to God for the survival of Hon. Michael Chinda despite the vicious knocks he received from the mace-wielding Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd.
"They condemned the brutal physical assault suffered by Hon. Chinda, saying that such violence must not be witnessed again in the state.
"Former Minister of Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo while condemning the brutal injury inflicted on Hon. Chinda, said all well meaning Nigerians must rise to condemn such pre-meditated act of violence in the interest of the nation’s political growth.
"He said: "All of us must condemn what happened. It doesn’t matter on which side of the political divide that we find ourselves. Governors who see this kind of barbarism and fail to condemn it, but choose to turn it to political drama will not be forgiven by history".
"Former ACN National Treasurer, Mr Kenneth Kobani said that whoever supports the acts of pre-meditated violence perpetrated against the Rivers State lawmaker needs his conscience examined. 'Our common duty is to ensure that we do not support this kind of evil. It is shocking that even as we speak, those who carried out this evil act are still going about justifying the evil. That tells you the deplorable state that our state has fallen to.'

  2. Hmmm, must u be treated in London? D traditional shaving and use of iodine prir to plastering would have been more effective! The overhead on the treatment is even more than the treatment itself. Show of shame! This is an embarrassment to me as a Nigerian that after so manay years of independence, we could not attend to a simple wound on the head! INSULT!!

    1. My friend, I don't think anyone is in support of someone using a mace to hit another. The issue here is why go to London hospital to treat a wound? Are there no hospitals in nigeria capable of treating him? Who pays for his treatment abroad? Who paid for the high powered delegation who visited him in the hospital?

  18. This evil is justified. For long a vocal minority has always had their way against the majority that silent. Nothing with happen to Chidi Lloyd, he only defended himself. Nigerians should ask minister of state Education of what benefit is his trip to london for our education sector. They are sending our money abroad for hospital treatment whereas they won't allow Amaechi to build hospital. They love things abroad. Jonathan and his wife who are support this kind of charade are a disgrace to us from the Niger Delta region who taught we are better than the north or west or east

    1. If Chinda come back come still make any Noise, Lloyd go sama that him head again. I go london go chop pepper soup say e go take treatment. I hope the thing go damage him brain like that governor for North. You can't be oppressing people because you are using federal power, forgeting that peoples power can be dangerous like in Egypt. For Egypt Chinda own na small thing na! Go Egype make you see people head. Jonathan was here being bullied and harrassed by Turia Ya'adua, Oandoaka and Ibori them, we all dey mercy for am, e never serve on term he don dey oppress people from him village, take oil block from rivers, him wife dey bully state governor. Wetin him no fit try with Hausa people, because Amaechi no get papa, e no get millitants like Wike. But despite, ordinary people of nigeria will fight for Amaechi when the time comes. Soyinka has shown the light, the day anything happen to Amaechi Nigeria will be locked down. No be wetin Obasanjo and Uba boys take Ngige do. Fuel subsidy gbege go be small revolution.

  23. 7:47pm u are the biggest fool I have ever seen.So the medical facilities in Nigeria is so bad that any small medical challenge our leaders will fly over seas living people like you to use the local facilities.Every year the so called leaders budgets billions of naira for health sector yet they don't believe in it.People like you make me feel that this generation is a wasted one, common man do you reason with your brain or your anus.As for the question you asked my father will not be as stupid as chinda to try and impeach a speaker with five rascals out of 32 members. He should know he was on a suicide mission if it were to be military era he should be in the prison or even grave. As far as I am conscerned those five rascals should be jailed for negating the rule of law and unecesarily heating up the polity
