In defiance of the summons by the
Inspector General of Police, those fingered in the Rivers assembly saga, who
were asked to appear before the Deputy Inspector General of Police on Thursday
at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, failed to show up.
The IGP had, on Wednesday, summoned the leader of the
Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lioyd; the Aide-de-camp (ADC) to Governor
Amaechi Debewore Semeikumo and the Chief Security Officer to the governor, Tony
Iwelu, to report to the force CID Headquarters, Abuja, in respect of their
roles as seen in the video clips in circulation.
According to force spokesman, Frank
Mba, the invitation was to obtain further details that would assist the police
authorities in their investigations.
Efforts to contact Mba on why they failed to appear at the Force headquarters failed, as he simply said “I am in Lagos, let me call them, I will get back to you.”
