ASUU Begins Nationwide Strike

ASUU President
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced indefinite strike  nationwide from  yesterday,  national president of ASUU, Dr Nasir Isa Fagge has said.
He made this declaration, Monday, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after their NEC meeting held at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
Speaking to news men, he said: “We are embarking on indefinite strike nation wide because the Federal Government reneged in the Memorandum of Understanding MoU  signed with ASUU in 2009 to pay lecturers their earn allowance.”
According to Fagge, the Federal Government, in 2009 made a law to pay each lecturers N12,500 per month as earn allowance which it never did since 2009.

  2. You are right. Lecturers deserve more, time has gone when d slogan "Teachers' reward is in Heaven'is still active, their rewards starts here on earth. Teachers/lecturers are the builders of tomorrow's leader. A senetor or President or any higher position on earth can't be in any position if he did not pass through a teacher. I think its high time the federal government look into the welfare of these lecturers nd make them happy for meaningful nd lasting impartation of what is worthwhile.

Lecturers, Senators and government officials don't "deserve" anything. They are all overpaid when compared to their productivity. In any case an agreement made is an agreement that should be honoured. Only †̥Ђe students suffer in †̥Ђe end.
