Rivers State Governor Chibuike
Amaechi was involved in an auto crash yesterday when a vehicle rammed into his
official service vehicle along Igwurita road. Governor Amaechi was on his way
to the airport when the incident occurred.
A witness said the accident was
caused by a Toyota Avensis with registration number, AAA 767 AQ,
which rammed into the governor’s convoy and hit his official service vehicle
from the opposite direction of the dual carriage way.
An eye witness said that
the governor escaped unhurt, added that the driver of the vehicle was arrested
and handed over to the police for interrogation.
Rivers State Commissioner for
information, Mrs Ibim Seminitari, confirmed the story, adding that the vehicle
intruded into the governor’s convoy and collided with one of the service
vehicles.
When contacted, Rivers State Police
Public Relation Officer, DSP Angela Agabe, said she was yet to be briefed by
the DPO in charge of the area where the incident occurred.
