Traditional rulers
of Oguta council in Imo State have tendered an apology to Governor Rochas
Okorocha and chairman of the state’s council of traditional rulers over an
attack on the governor at Awa Community last weekend.

reports that Governor Rochas Okorocha was last Saturday at Awa in Oguta
autonomous community attacked by some youths allegedly sponsored by Engr. Eugene
Dibiagwu, a PDP candidate in the Oguta re-run House of Assembly election.
Eze Ignatius Aso of
Obudi Agwa autonomous community accompanied by other traditional rulers from
the area informed Eze Ohiri, chairman Imo State council of traditional rulers
at the meeting that they came to apologize to the governor on behalf of their
son.
Eze Aso said Engr.
Dibiagwu has expressed shock over the insult the governor received at the area,
and has expressed readiness to apologize to the governor. The Oguta leaders stressed
that they will not allow anyone within and outside the state to insult or
threaten the life of the governor who they noted has done very well in the
state, especially in the council.
They appealed to
the governor to put the incident behind him in the interest of Oguta and Imo
State.
Responding,
chairman, Imo State council of traditional rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri, appealed
to politicians in the state to be careful with those who work for them, as they
cannot claim ignorance of their actions in the event of any problem.
