How Female DPO Shot And Buried UNIBEN Student

All movement was yesterday paralyzed in parts of Benin City, the Edo State Capital, as Students mainly from the University of Benin, staged a protest over the alleged shooting to death of a 500 level, 22 year Old student, Momodu Ibrahim, of the Faculty Laboratory Science.
The students dressed in black attire marched through the streets of Benin calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Divisional Police Officer, Carol Afegbua in charged of Ogida Police station over her alleged complicity in the murder of Momodu.
Late Momodu who was the only male child of his parents was said to have been shot a stone throw from his family house located at No 1, Igbobawaye Street off Siluko road by Textile mill junction.
Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists,( NUJ), secretariat, the immediate sister of the deceased, Ebohon Rebecca Egbe while calling for Justice gave an account of how the life of his brother was cut shot by the bullet of the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ogida.
“ I was in my office in Port- Harcourt when I received a call from Benin from a cousin of mine who is a Police officer that I should take heart that we lost Ibrahim my younger brother. I called my mother and she said they have been looking for him in last two days, normally it is after 48 hours that you report such thing to the Police.
So, She went to the Police on Wednesday, 29th May 2013, only to be told that he has been killed by Carol Afegbua, the DPO of Ogida Police station and was buried the next day without the family knowing. His cell-phone which was with the Police rang all through as we are trying to locate his whereabouts until the Police finally picked the call and asked my mother to come to the police station. When the DPO was confronted and asked why his men shot my brother she explained they didn’t know his identity because his men asked him to stop and he refused. she also alleged that he was carrying a gun and wanted to shoot at his men on patrol before his men shoot at him in self defense”
The family according to the sister of the slain student was informed that the body of late Momodu had been buried at a public Cemetery in Egor local Government Area of the State.
Several calls by our correspondent to the Commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, and the Police Public Relation officer, ASP Charles Eguavoen, were unanswered at the time of filing this report

  5. However way it went,we were not there to witness the ugly incident.Anybody would have risen in anger because the pain of loosing a loved one is unbearable.Seriously, the police force of nigeria has never been truthful in cases like this...they will surely want to cover up their mess by giving us false account of what has happened.Let God judge because he knows and sees all things...mr sunny

  10. Nigerian police officers are criminals. Very callous, weaked heartless. Definitely they will find a way to cover-up the ungodly incident. Madam (DPO) you have your own children but is watching you and if indeed you cooked up the story inorder to covered the urgly murder case, soon you will experience the same thing in jesus name. Asewo, yeye woman. God will punish you and other officers involved. You will all weep over your children. The police force need to be sanitized, the most corrupt institution in nigeria. When one look at the story line one will know that it was intentional, they guy was killed for nothing even the family were not even informed before he was buried. The woman DPO shhould be dismissed and hang to death. Olosi, olori buruku the heaven will judge you all. May gentle soul of the younge man rest in peace.

  13. I don't know what d nigeria police is turning to.where re. The so called human right activist 4 crying out loud.I think they re sleeping expecially in lagos state where d OC sars is killing our youths everyday 4 crimes that should be ordinarily charged to court either claiming they have a confrontation with his men or they tried 2 escape while on hand cuffs and leg chains then sparing the wealthy and succesfull armed robbers after milking them dry and using them to lure others(including the innocent ones)into his trap.the ikorodu mortuary is filled up already and I learnt the attendants @ isolo have started complaining of spaces 2 accomodate the corpse of his victims as well.justice should be done and I'm still emphasising d need of revolution in nigeria!

  14. Let's assume he is guilty and also let's assume he pointed the gun at the police and the police shot him.
Why burry him? That I can not stomach and that points the finger at the police
    They should be charged.
    They are liers period.

  15. The nation will continue to hear such funny stories pending when we begin to recruit police men that are actually passionate about the job. As against some individuals who are on the look-out 4 any survival job. May God help Us All...

  16. Is dat so call Carol Afegbua or whatever she call her name a mother? Bloody lier self defence ko defence ni. Justice must be done, so painful after wasting money to train him from primary all through to Unviersity level finalist na wao. Its just too bad. The blood of the would surely visit them both day and night until the true is told. Before you know it they would be transfered to another state. After all they say they are our friend in teams of procetion which jeje friend indeed. Dats how they killed my brother some years back now. For sefl defence they say he was an armed robber, but at last they confessed when the rot of God starting burning them. Bad ones amongs them are the ones spoiling the Nigeria Police.
