President Goodluck
Jonathan and former Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Theophilus Danjuma,
met at State House, Abuja, on Sunday, behind closed doors.
Danjuma’s mission was not known but it came barely a day after he was reported to have criticised both the Nigerian leadership and northern leaders while being conferred with a traditional title in Zaria at the weekend.
He had blamed the leadership of the country for what he described as the near collapse of all sectors of the economy and the current security challenges.
State House source which could not disclose the purpose of the meeting, however, said that there was nothing to suggest that either of the men was unhappy with each other over anything during the meeting.
Jonathan had been effusive on Saturday while congratulating Danjuma on his conferment of the high traditional title of Jarmai Zazzau by the Emir of Zaria, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Shehu Idris.
He had expressed his belief that General Danjuma’s splendid career in the armed forces and public service of the federation, as well as his colossal philanthropy and generosity to communities in all geo-political zones of the country had ensured that he would be continually honoured and celebrated by an appreciative nation.
